The Assignment:
• In a multimedia (power point) presentation
you will show a depth of knowledge,
understanding and connection with a poem
of your choice.
• The poem you choose can not be one we
have covered in class.
• It can be an original work by you.
• **All poems and images must be rated G
Project Requirements
• Must be in power point
• Include visual images and all of the actual lines of
the poem, which will be read aloud by you during
the presentation.
• A list of poetic elements used by the author and
examples of each (at the end, before
bibliography).
• Analysis of the poem where you can demonstrate
what and how this poem resonates. (like #8 in
poetry log)
• A complete, correct bibliography citing where you
got the poem and ALL OF THE PICTURES
from.
• **Be careful, pictures use up lots of memory.
Grading Rubric
• CONTENT
– For a 10: you must
exhibit a deep
understanding of the
poem (know what it
means), knowledge of
the poem’s theme, and
show an emotional
connection to the
poem.
– 10 points X 3
• Technology
– For a 10: You use
Power Point software
well, incorporating
images and meeting all
requirements. No
computer problems,
disk problems, etc.
– Your project must be in
on time
– 10 points X 1

• Motivation
– For a 10: you must
exhibit a deep personal
motivation and desire to
work on this on your
own. (In other words
you’d rather work on this
than anything else, and
don’t need your hand to
be held through every
step). You make
excellent use of class
time provided.

• Presentation and
Effectiveness
– For a 10: your
presentation will be
interesting to the class,
effective (it teaches the
class the poem, or your
interpretation of the
poem), and flow well
(no pauses, problems,
forgotten lines, etc.).

is included and is
correct.

are enough examples to

Steps and Due Dates
• Choose a poem; bring a copy to class with a bibliography
(15 pts.)…Due: 4/28
• Read and understand poem (own it).
• Make a list of elements used by author, bring to class (25
pts.)…Due: 4/29
• Do an Outline (25 pts.)…Due: end of class 4/29 *this
will consist of drawn boxes with notes as to the lines and
images. Also notes as to music, etc. Stick figures are all
that is expected.
• We will be in the CPU lab, bring a disk…4/29,4/30
• Project Due date: 5/3
• Presentations:5/3,5/4, 5/5
Things to consider
• Memory. Make sure your presentation is
not too big to fit on a floppy disk. If you
have a CD burner at home and can do that,
then go ahead.
• Citing your sources. Make sure you write
down where the pictures come from
correctly.
• There can be no late projects because there
will not be a projector. Please get them in
on time.
