Professor Dr. Alireza Yalda ,
father of sciences of infectious diseases in Iran
Born on December 3, 1930 in Tehran

Medical degree from Medical School of Tehran University

Specialist in the field of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases
from School of Medicine at Tehran University
1960
Beginning of teaching at the Medical School of Tehran University
Present Distinguished University Professor at Tehran University of Medical
Sciences, director of university clinic and polyclinic of infectious
diseases, Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Author of seven books and co-editor of over ten books

Professor Dr. Alireza Yalda ,
father of sciences of infectious diseases in Iran
Recipient of over 20 awards as an internationally highly respected physician,
Scientist, researcher and professor spanning from teaching excellence to national
recognitions for his outstanding service and contributions
Zanjan School of Medicine in Iran now publishes a journal titled ”Yalda” which is
named after Prof.Dr. Alireza Yalda
Prof. Yalda is called as father of infectious diseases in Iran
The Department of Infectious Diseases at Tehran University of Medical Sciences is
named after Professor Yalda
Prof. Dr. Yalda is a life-time member of the Medical Board of the Tehran University
of Medical Sciences, a member of editorial board of over 20 Medical Journals

Professor Dr. Alireza Yalda ,
father of sciences of infectious diseases in Iran
Prof. Yalda is member of scientific board of Acta Medica Iranica , editor of Journal
of Iranian Medical Council, member of scientific board of the Medical Journal of
Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and the promotion review committee for
the teaching faculty at the School of Medicine at Tehran University of Medical
Sciences.
Furthermore, Professor Yalda is a permanent member of the Iranian Academy of
Medical Sciences.
In honor of his extraordinary scientific, charismatic and humanitary character the
international Prof. Yalda Academy has been founded in year 2008 by
internationally renowned scientist , researchers and university professors to
promote medical sciences and young researchers and accelerate worlwilde the
scientific cooperation between scientists and researchers.
Prof. Yalda has been married to Dr. Tahereh Jafarzadeh since 1963 and they have
two daughters and three grandchildren.
