Why Music?
Music is a life
long skill.
Music improves coordination and is one
of the few activities
that uses both sides
of the brain
simultaneously.
Music has
been
proven in

improve
literacy
and
numeracy.

How does it work




We offer students a 30 minute group lesson per
week.
Groups are between 3 – 10 students.
Lessons are held on one day per week, and use a
rotating timetable.
All beginners are offered a school instrument to use
in their first year.
Expectations of the
Student
I will
 care for and maintain my instrument

attend all lessons for a minimum of one year

practice at least 15 mins (beginners) and 30 mins (2nd yr and
above) per day, 5 days a week

bring all my equipment (tutor book, music folder and
instrument), and arrive on time, to all lessons and
rehearsals

become a member of the Concert Band or String Ensemble
when I have reached the required standard
 attend all Concert Band/String Ensemble rehearsal,
performances, concerts & camps

In exceptional circumstances where your child is unable to
attend a performance you must notify the conductor ASAP
via written note as the conductor will have to rearrange
seating plans and parts to balance the ensemble
