Our Day
• Each day begins with the students unpacking
their backpacks (planners and take-home
folders).
• Students are requested to use the restroom
and wash hands.
• A morning message is written on the dry-erase
board or the SmartBoard.
• Then students have time to switch out books
from their book boxes.
Math
• Started with whole group and expect to make
smaller groups soon
• Will use Everyday Math journal and will
supplement with worksheets
• Focus on introducing multiple ways to solve
problems and vocabulary
• Encourage math games, word problems, real
life practice and math websites (such as
ixl.com and coolmath4kids.com)
English and Language Arts
• Daily 5 or Weekly 7– Reading and LA programs
• Reading focused

We love Recess!
• We get two periods of recess each day
• We do indoor recess and indoor lunch in the
classroom when the weather is wet or too
cold. We could always use more things to do.
You are welcome to send in extra games on
wet or cold weather days.

Grading Scale
• All grades (K-8) will be using the same 4-point scale, based on Marzano’s
scale. The student’s grades can not be averaged and equated to a
percentage.
• 4-point Scale at a glance
• 4.0= Exceeds mastery
• 3.0= Mastery
• 2.0= Developing understanding
• 1.0= Unsatisfactory understanding
• *A student may be awarded a + (1+, 2+, 3+) to indicate that they are
making progress toward the next grade on assignments and
assessments. However, a + will not be used on progress reports or report
cards.
