This is how this class will go…
FIRST 2 WEEKS:
We will do a new lesson everyday and finish
each class with an open-ended question. (10 mins)
And go over that open-ended the next day, after I look
at it.
LAST TWO WEEKS:
We will take sample test every other day. One
day take it, the next day go over it. The sample test
will be exactly like the actual. (40 minutes – work on
our timing)
YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS ANY CLASSES!!!!

Types of Real Numbers

Natural Numbers(N):
Natural Numbers are counting numbers from
1,2,3,4,5,................
N = {1,2,3,4,5,................}

Whole Numbers (W):
Whole numbers are natural numbers
including zero. They are
0,1,2,3,4,5,...............
W = {0,1,2,3,4,5,..............}
W=0+N
What are integers?

Integers are the whole numbers and their
opposites.
 Examples of integers are

A
rational number is a real
number that can be written as a
fraction.
 A rational number written in
decimal form is terminating or
repeating.

Eric has a part-time job at the deli. His responsibility is to keep track of the sales of some
items. He earns a salary and an additional commission on what he sells. During one week
he sold the following:
25 pounds of boiled ham at $7.99 per pound
17 pounds of potato salad at $2.50 per pound
6 boxes of american cheese at $14.95 per box
2 whole salamies at a total price of $64.50
30 dozen rolls at $3.00 a dozen
A.) What was the total from the sale of all the above items?
B.) The sale of boiled ham is what percent of the total sales?
The sale of potato salad is what percent of the total sales?
The sale of american cheese is what percent of the total sales?
C.) Eric earns a 4% commission of the total sales. How much commission does he earn?
He also earns a salary of $150 a
week. What is Eric’s total pay for that week?
D.) If Eric is offered another job for a salary $175 a week without commission, what are
some factors he should consider in deciding to take the new job or remain with the job he
currently has.
