Los pronombres de complemento indirecto
Indirect object pronouns
El profesor les da mucha tarea a los estudiantes.
The professor gives a lot of homework to the students.
Mis padres me prestan un poco de dinero.
My parents lend me a little bit of money.
Indirect object pronouns
me – to/for me
te – to/for you (sing. fam.)
le – to/for you (sing. form.)
le – to/for him, to/for her
nos – to/for us
os – to/for you (pl. fam.)
les – to/for you (pl. form.)
les – to/for them
Indirect object pronouns are placed in front of the verb or attached
to the end of an infinitive or a present participle, if one is present.
Mi hermano le vende su coche.
My brother is selling his car to him/her.
Mi hermano le va a vender su coche. Mi hermano va a venderle su coche.
My brother is going to sell his car to him/her.
Mi hermano le está vendiendo su coche. Mi hermano está vendiéndole su coche.
My brother is selling his car to him/her.
Unlike English, Spanish indirect object pronouns are often present in
a sentence when the indirect object to which it refers is in the same
sentence. This sounds strange in English, but it’s fine in Spanish!
La profesora les explica la lección a los estudiantes.
The teacher explains the lesson (to them) to the students.
The following verbs are often used with indirect object pronouns:

DECIR (to say, to tell)

doy
digo
tú
das
dices
Ud.,él/ella

nosotros/as
damos
decimos
vosotros/as
dais
decís
Uds., ellos/as
dan
dicen
Mis padres me dan dinero todos los meses.
My parents give me money every month.
Nunca le digo mentiras a mi abuela.
I never tell lies to my grandmother.
