Commands:
• Tell someone what to do.
• Used with a person you would speak to using
the Tú form.
The (+) command form of the verb is created by:
– Using the él/ella form of the verb.
– Ex. Hablar  ¡Habla! = speak/talk!

Negative Informal Commands:
• Tells someone what NOT to do.
• Used with people you refer to as Tú.
To form the negative (-) command of AR verbs:
– Drop the o from the yo form and add es.
– Add NO before the verb.
– Ex. (yo) fumo ¡no fumes! = Don’t smoke!

Negative Informal Commands:
To form the negative(-) command of ER/IR verbs:
– Drop the o from the yo form and add as.
– Add NO before the verb.
– Ex. (yo) duermo ¡No duermas! = Don’t sleep!
*The irregular (-) verb commands are:

Placement
Where to put the pronoun?!
Direct Object & Reflexive Pronoun
Placement:
• Direct Object Pronouns (lo, la, los, las) and
Reflexive Pronouns (me, te, se, nos, os, se) are
placed:
– Attached to the end of affirmative (+) commands
– Ex. Levántate or Cómelo
– Between No and the verb for negative (-)
commands.
– Ex. No te levantes or No lo comas
