The Present Progressive
How to Form
• To form the present progressive you must
use either a form of the verb ESTAR o
SEGUIR and add the correct endings of
the verb you need.
• EJEMPLO USE THE VERB
ESTAR…ejemplo de un verbo -AR
SIGO ESTUDIANDO = I continue studying.
ESTOY ESTUDIANDO= I am studying.
EJEMPLOS -ER
• VOLVER...TO RETURN
• SIGO VOLVIENDO A CASA

• Dividir- To divide
• SIGO DIVIDIENDO EL PASTEL.

This is because if the stem ends in a vowel...you
need to change that i to a y
• NOT: LEIENDO NOT: CREIENDO NOT:
INCLUIENDO NOT: OIENDO Change the I in the
middle of the word to a Y, thus the Y serves as a
SEMI-CONSONANT!

Past Participles
• You can also use the imperfect tenses of
ESTAR or SEGUIR to express a past idea.
