Reflexive Verb
Reflexive Verb: verb in which someone does
something to themselves.
Ejemplo: He washes his face. I brush my hair.
Important
A reflexive verb must always have a
“reflexive pronoun” with it.
Reflexive Pronouns
Me (myself)

Nos
Te (yourself)
Se (himself, herself, themselves, you all’s selves,
oneself)
Pronoun Placement
If the reflexive verb has been conjugated, the reflexive
pronoun must go before the reflexive verb.
Example: Me cepillo el pelo. (I brush my hair.)

Reflexive Verb Examples
Me lavo. (I wash myself.)
Te cepillas el pelo. (You brush your hair.)
To make it negative...
simply put a “no” before the reflexive pronoun.
Ejemplo: Me lavo. (I wash myself.)
No me lavo. (I don’t wash myself.)
Body Parts & Clothing
When using a reflexive verb with a body part or article
of clothing, you must always use the definite article
(el, la, los, las) before the body part or clothing.
Ejemplos: Me lavo la cara.
(I wash my face.)
Me pongo la chaqueta.
(I put on a jacket.)
Reflexive Infinitives
When you are going to use a reflexive verb in it’s
infinitive form (unconjugated) you must have the
reflexive pronoun attached to the end of the verb.
Reflexive Infinitive Examples
The reflexive pronoun will be added to the end of the
infinitive to make one word.
sentarse (to seat oneself)
mirarme (to look at myself)
mirarte (to look at yourself)
