Hacer, querer y venir en el pretérito
1. The verbs hacer, querer, and venir are
irregular in the preterite. Note that they all have
an i in the stem and the endings for the yo, él,ella,
and usted forms are different from the endings of
regular verbs.

2. The verb querer has several special meanings
in the preterite.

the preterite. They all have a v in the stem. Study

2. The verb andar means to go, but not to a
specific place. The verb ir is used with a specific
place.
Fueron a Toledo.
They went to Toledo.
Anduvieron por las plazas pintorescas de Toledo.
They wandered through (walked around)
the picturesque squares of Toledo.

4. Like querer, the verbs poder and saber have
special meanings in the preterite.

(After trying hard) I managed to stop.

(I tried but) I couldn’t stop.

I found it out (learned it) yesterday.
