What is the ‘Le Futur Proche’?
In both, English and French, it is a way of describing what you
are going to do in the near future.
As an action that will take place in the immediate future, the sentence
is made up of the subject and the verb ‘to go’ followed by the
infinitive of the second verb.
I
am going
Examples:

I am going to watch a movie.

We are going to eat a pizza.

How to form ‘le futur proche’
In French, you need three parts in your sentence, just
as in English. They are:
The subject
The right
part of the
verb ‘aller’
Examples:
Je vais regarder un film
Nous allons manger une pizza.
A 2nd verb
in the
infinitive

Infinitive Verbs
As you know, verbs in French have many different forms.
They change depending on who is doing the action.
I sing = Je chante.
We sing = Nous chantons
The infinitive of any verb, is the form that you will find when you
look it up in the dictionary!
Think of it as:
‘to + action word’
to sing / to dance / to eat / to play / to study
chanter / danser/ manger / jouer / étudier

What is a Disjunctive Pronoun?
In English, we use our voice for emphasis.
ex: HE is going? YOU like escargots?
In French, we use Disjunctive Pronouns for emphasis:
moi
toi
lui
elle
nous
vous
eux
elles
Using Disjunctive Pronouns
0 To emphasize who is doing something, add a disjunctive
pronoun at the end or at the beginning of the sentence.
Tu aimes la pizza, TOI?
= Do you like pizza?
MOI, je vais regarder la télé = I am going to watch TV.
0 In short answers without verbs.
Qui va au parc? Pas moi! ELLE! = Not me! HER!
0 Disjunctive pronouns can help to emphasize and identify
people when the subject includes more that one person.
MARC ET MOI, nous faisons du ski. = We're skiing.
CLAIRE ET TOI, vous étudiez? = Are you and Claire studying?
Using Disjunctive Pronouns con’t
0 Use disjunctive pronouns after prepositions.
Ils sont devant MOI. = They are in front of ME.
Je vais chez TOI. = I am going to YOUR house.
0 You can show possession by using "à" before a disjunctive
pronoun.
A qui sont les lunettes? = Elles sont à MOI.
Ces gommes, elles sont à toi? Non, elles sont à ELLE.
