Reflexive verbs in the Present Tense
We have already met the reflexive verb
Llamarse = to be called. ( me llamo/se llama = I am
called / he, she, it is called ) These verbs work in the
same way.
 Despertarse= to wake up
 Levantarse= to get up
 Ducharse= to get showered
 Vestirse = to get dressed
 Peinarse =to comb/ brush your hair
 Llavarse los dientes= to brush your teeth

• Snakes and Ladders…
• In your pairs you are going to play a game
of snakes and ladders however with a bit of
a twist…
• … the game will be based on the daily

Serpientes y Escaleras
•
Get into groups of two or three. You will need a counter each and one dice per
group.
•
When you land on a square, one of the other people in the group must give you
a sentence to say, using the phrase that matches the picture in that square.
For example, if you land on the first square, your friend might tell you to say
“I have a shower at 7.30” in Spanish or if you land on a square that says “8.30”
you might have to say “I go to school at 8.30”.
•
If you are right, you continue to move around the board on your next turn. If
you get it wrong, you have to stay where you are and try to get it right on
your next go.
Ladders
• If you land on a square at the bottom of a ladder and get the phrase right on
your first try, you climb up the ladder. If you have to have another go to get
the phrase right, you carry on around the board as normal.
Snakes
• If you land on the top of a snake and get the phrase right, you’re safe. If you
get it wrong, you have to slide down the snake to the square underneath.

Reflexive Verbs
• A reflexive verb is one in which the action
of the verb is executed and received by the
subject of the verb
• Basically a reflexive verb is something done
to yourself for example you have a shower
translated into Spanish would be ME
DUCHO which is a common reflexive verb
How to conjugate reflexive verbs
•
Conjugate your verb as usual but you add
on a REFLEXIVE PRONOUN
For example: ducharse – to have a shower
**look at the ending – it is differnet this is how you notice if a verb is
reflexive (if ith has “se” at the end of it
DUCHARSE is a common AR verb as before the “SE”
it has AR this is similar from the other reflexive
verbs.

Look at the blue words – these are the regular
AR verbs conjugation of the formation however
the red words must be put in front of the verb
in order for it to be reflexive.

Los Simpsons Rutina Diaria
• We are going to be looking at the daily
routine of the Simpson family
• Then once you have read the extract
TWICE you will then answer the questions
on it
• Bart Simpson is talking about his daily routine. He
describes what he does, what both he and his family do
and what other members of his family do.
• Hola me llamo Bart Simpson. Voy a describir la rutina
diaria de mi familia y yo. Yo y mi hermana, Lisa, nos
despertamos a las ocho. Ella se levanta a las ocho y cinco y
