Transitive and Intransitive Verbs
What do you know? Action verbs tells what the subject is
doing or did.
Transitive: Transfers action to a noun or pronoun (direct
object).
<subject><action verb> what/whom?
Intransitive: No direct object.
Examples:
We speak English.
We speak well.
We study grammar.
We study hard.

What is direct object, what type of verb?
They bought her birthday present.
They chose a watch with an orange band.
She talks about her present all the time.
The second hand sweeps around the numbers.
The teacher watched the children at recess.
She keeps the watch in its case.
The numbers glow in the dark.
The teacher stood and watched at recess.
They bought her a birthday present.
