(D.O.P.’s)
• They tell who or what ________
the action of the verb.
Example: Do you wash the dishes?
Yes, I wash them.
• So, instead of repeating…the
dishes…we use the word them.
What are the direct
object pronouns?

indirectos o IOP’s
• They answer the questions
“________?” or “_________?” the
action is performed/intended.
Example: Ana bought gifts for her
friends.
She bought gifts for them.
• So, instead of repeating…her friends…we
use the word them.
What are the indirect
object pronouns?

Ejemplos:
• Ella llama a mí.* (D)
Ella _____ llama.
• Yo lavo los platos. (D)
Yo _____ lavo.
• Yo doy el regalo a ella. (I)
• Yo _____ doy (a ella).
*Remember that when a person is a direct or
indirect object you must use “a personal.”
With infinitives
• When there are _______ in a row
and one is an infinitive the DOP may
be attached to the end of the
infinitive.
Ejemplo:
Nosotros tenemos que lavar el carro.
Nosotros tenemos que ________.
With the progressive
• When you use the progressive tenses the
DOP may be _________ to the end of the
gerundio (-ando/-iendo) and an accent placed
on the _____________ syllable.
Ejemplo:
Tú estás comiendo las cerezas.
Tú estás ________________.
*accent needed (ándo/iéndo/yéndo)
Placement Rules
1. ________ the conjugated verb

Rule #1- Don’t forget your _______

When you have a direct and indirect object
pronoun in the same sentence, the indirect
object pronoun always comes ________.

If the first pronoun is le or les, you

Rule #3-Accents with infinitives
if there is a double O.P.
When there are 2 verbs in a row and one is
an infinitive the pronouns may be
attached to the _____ of the infinitive
with an accent on the vowel at the end of
the infinitive (ár/ ér/ ír)
Ejemplo:
Tenemos que lavar el carro para mi padre.
Tenemos que ____________.

Rule #4- Accents with
progressive forms
When you use the progressive tenses the
double pronouns may be attached to the
end of the gerundio (-ando/-iendo) and an
accent placed on (ándo/iéndo/yéndo)
Ejemplo:
Estabas escribiendo la carta para mí.

• El mesero le dio la cuenta a
Laura.
