Language Arts
-This week’s story is called “Half Chicken.” It is a folktale that teaches a lesson.
-The focus skill is theme. The theme of this story is “when you are generous and helpful to
others, they will be generous and helpful to you.”
-Our robust vocabulary words are: deliberately, compassion, composed, gratitude, swift, vain,
overheard, suggested, enormous, and exclaimed.
-Our grammar skill is verbs. A verb is a word that tells what someone/something is or does.
-This is the last week for character essay contest writing. We will be finishing up the revision and
editing process and sending them off for judging.
Social Studies
Today Joseph and Briscoe presented the
history of Mardi Gras. Students also made
traditional Mardi Gras masks using what they
learned. We will also be learning about
scarcity and opportunity cost this week. We
will have small groups who are assigned to
demonstrate understanding of specific
economic concepts.
