PUZZLE GAME

Objective: Students will comprehend and connect
meanings of words in the target language through
their meanings in their native language.
Materials: Puzzle template, scissors, envelopes

Directions:

Fill out the puzzle template to your class’s needs based on
what vocabulary is being covered.
 Cut the squares on the black lines and place them in the
envelope.
 Divide the class into groups of three or four. Working
together, students will piece the puzzle together, matching
the meanings in corresponding languages.



Other ideas: Students could match verb conjugations,
numbers, cultural points or phrases.

SCRAMBLED SENTENCES



Objective: Students will understand grammatical syntax
through familiar vocabulary.
Materials: Computer paper, scissors, sentences
Directions:







Type 15 – 20 sentences implementing current vocabulary with
common adjectives. This can help students understand
adjective placement in a sentence.
Cut each sentence up by each word and place each sentence in
a numbered envelope..
Divide the class into groups of two or three.
Each group will have a sheet of paper numbered 1 – 20
(Depending how many envelopes are available)
Working together, students will unscramble each sentence and
write their final product on their sheet of paper that
corresponds to the number on the envelope.
Place all envelopes at a certain location so that students can
get and leave the envelopes at the same location. (Or you could
set the envelopes up at centers.
Other Ideas: Distinguish between past tenses, ser and estar,
and other grammar points.
SLAP GAME



Objective: Students will comprehend and connect
meanings of words in the target language through
their meanings in their native language
Materials: Pencil, slap game template, washable
markers
Directions:






.
Prepare a SLAP paper by writing as many vocabulary
words in the target language. Try to write the words in
different directions so that students have to really look for
the word.
Divide students in groups of two or three.
Each group has a Slap paper with the vocabulary words.
Teacher says a word in English and the student looks for
the word in the target language.
Students point to the word with their pencil.
Whoever gets to the word first gets to write a point on the
desk with a WASHABLE (Vis-à-vis)marker.
VERB DICE GAME
Objective: Students will practice conjugating
verbs by randomly selecting a subject through
rolling the dice.
 Materials: Dice, verb template
 Directions:






Students are divided into groups of two or three.
Each student has a copy of the dice template.
Each group rolls the dice. Then, the student writes
down the number that he or she rolls.
Then, the students conjugate the verb based on what
number they have rolled and the subject that
corresponds to the number.
