Start with the quote memes slide presentation
Complete famous quotes in a gallery walk
presentation. Have students work with their
partners to walk around the room and complete
as many quotes as they can.
Copy of lyrics

which explain the student’s interpretation of the quote and why it
is important to the
student.

write your first and last name on the ribbon below the shield
Write your quote inside the shield and include an illustration or decorations that fits you and the quote.
You must copy the quote EXACTLY and enclose it in quotation marks. You must also include the author’s name.

STEP 1: READ THROUGH THE QUOTES ATTACHED TO YOUR ASSIGNMENT
SHEET AND PUT A STAR NEXT TO ALL THOSE YOU LIKE.
STEP 2: REREAD THOSE YOU HAVE MARKED AND CHOOSE 5 – 7 THAT FIT YOU
OR THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE AS A GUIDING MOTTO.
STEP 3: FROM THOSE 5-7 NARROW YOUR CHOICES TO 2-3.
STEP 4: CONSIDER EACH OF THE 2-3 CHOSEN. CONSIDER THE PARAGRAPH OF
INTERPRETATION YOU WILL BE WRITING.
STEP 5: CHOOSE YOUR MOTTO AND WRITE IT AT THE TOP OF YOUR PAGE.

TIPS FOR WRITING YOUR QUOTE IN YOUR SHIELD NEATLY
Use a pencil first
Spacing your letters or words evenly to fill the space:
1. Write in the first and last letter of the first and last
word in the quote or name
2. Then write in the middle letter or word.
3. Fill in the remaining letters to fill in the space evenly.
4. Go back over the letters with ink or sharpie.
