Peer Revision Instructions
Write “EDITOR #1” and print your
name legibly next to “Editor #1”
Underline every other sentence in the essay
Check to see if all sentences are complete…if
it is missing a subject, verb, or it is not a
complete thought, write “S/F” for sentence
fragment.
Check to see if there are run-on
sentences…if two or more sentences are
crammed together without proper
punctuation, write “R/O” for run-on.
Write “EDITOR #2” and print your
name legibly next to “Editor #2”
Read through the essay and circle all the
“BE” verbs (ex. am, is, are, was, were, be,
being, been).
Suggest verbs in the margin that are
“active” instead of “passive”.
Write “EDITOR #3” and print your
name legibly next to “Editor #3”
Read through the essay and put a triangle
around all the pronouns (ex. he, she, it, his,
her, their, they, them, me, my, I, we, our, you,
your)
If you can not tell what the pronoun is
referring to (the antecedent), write “?” next
to the pronoun.
Make sure the pronoun and antecedent
agree in number and gender.
Write “EDITOR #4” and print your
name legibly next to “Editor #4”
Read through the paper and check
SPELLING
CAPITALIZATION
PUNCTUATION
SUBJECT / VERB AGREEMENT
MAKE SUGGESTIONS THAT WILL IMPROVE THE
PAPER
MARK ANY AREAS THAT ARE CONFUSING
