I. Reflexive Verbs
In Spanish, you use reflexive verbs to show that
you’re doing the action to yourself.
You know that verbs are reflexive because it has se
on the end.
Examples:
1. ducharse
2. Cepillarse
3. vestirse
When we conjugate reflexive verbs,
we have to use reflexive pronouns.
The reflexive pronouns are:
me
te
se
nos
os
se
To conjugate a reflexive verb, drop the ‘se’, and
then conjugate with the regular verb endings.
LAVARSE:
me lavo
nos lavamos
te lavas
os laváis
se lava
se lavan

2.You dry your hair. (secarse)
3. Elena takes a bath. (bañarse)
4. We brush our teeth. (cepillarse)
5. Esteban y Pedro get up. (levantarse)
Practice:
1.Me acuesto
2.Te secas el pelo.
3.Elena se baña.
4.Nos cepillamos los dientes.
5.Esteban y Pedro se levantan.
If you have two verbs in a row, only the FIRST is
conjugated. The second verb stays in the
infinitive. The reflexive pronoun is attached to
the infinitive.
Por ejemplo:
We need to shower. (ducharse)
Necesitamos ducharnos.
I want to cut my hair. (cortarse)
Quiero cortarme el pelo.
Don’t forget!
Whenever you use antes de or después de, any
verbs after are always in the infinitive.
Por ejemplo:
I brush my teeth before I go to bed.
Me cepillo los dientes antes de acostarme.
1. You dry off after you shower. (secarse/ducharse)
Te secas después de ducharte.
2. Rosa washes her hands before she paints her nails.
(lavarse/pintarse)
Rosa se lava las manos antes de pintarse las
uñas.
II. Possessive Adjectives
Like all adjectives, possessive adjectives
MUST agree in number and gender.
They are:
mío/a/s
nuestro/a/s
tuyo/a/s
vuestro/a/s
suyo/a/s
suyo/a/s
