Shrew
The Shrew has a
very short tail.
It prefers moist
forest and can
be found along
the banks of
streams in
decayed logs
or piles of old
brush and in
tall thick grass.
Muskrat
Muskrats live in
ditches, streams,
marshes, and
wetland areas.
Muskrats have
shelters. They
sometimes build
a lodge of mud
and sticks.
American Mink
The American Mink
has short and stubby
legs and tail.
It is in the Weasel
family.
Usually one weights
2.07 k. g.
They are fair game for
coyotes, foxes,
bobcats, and even
owls.
Bobcat
It has a gray to
brown coat,
whiskered face,
and black tufted
ears.
It stays around
inhabited areas.
Prey selections
depend on
surrounding
habitats.
Rabbit
The Rabbit is a
Herbivore which
means it only
eats plants.
It’s tail is white like
cotton.
Sometimes called
cottontail.
Raccoon
The Raccoon has
a body length
between 16-28
inches.
It has long hair
and nails.
They eat anything
available.
Eastern Spotted
Skunk
It is a small, (16-23)
inches, skunk.
It is more weasel like in
body shape and is
found in the United
States.
They are much more
active than any other
skunk.
Long Tailed Weasel
The Long Tailed
Weasel is a
carnivore.
Carnivores eat meat.
Their legs are very
short compared to
the length of their
body.
Black Bear
The Black Bear is the
smallest bear of all
the North America
bears.
Males are 30% to 40%
larger than females.
Females weight
average is 150
pounds.
Fox Squirrel
The Fox Squirrel is a
rodent.
It lives in wide places
with a lot of trees.
The Fox Squirrel eats
acorns, nuts, seeds,
fleshy fruits, buds,
flowers, twigs, bird
eggs, insects,
tubers, roots and
fungi.
White Tailed Deer
The White Tailed Deer
is the smallest
member of the deer
family in North
America.
Adult white tails have
reddish-brown coats
in the summer which
fade to a grayishbrown in the winter.
White tailed deer
babies have spots.
Star Nosed Mole
The Star Nosed Mole
lives in wet lowland
areas and they eat
small invertebrates.
The Star Nosed Mole
is a very good
swimmer and they
have been observed
tunneling through
snow and swimming
through ice.
Opossum
The Opossum lives in
a wide-variety of
habitats.
They live in forest,
open woods, and
farmlands.
It prefers wet areas
like marshes,
swamps, streams
and river bottoms.
Coyote
The Coyote has a
grayish-brown to
yellowish-gray fur on
the upper parts.
Coyotes don’t have
many enemies.
Wolves used to eat
Coyotes; now there
are not many Wolves
in the country.
