Tunable Light:
Definition :it is a manipulation in the input signal so
the output would have different wavelengths of an
optical device such as a laser.
For some applications, it is required that the
wavelength of an optical device can be tuned
within some range.
There are two common types of Tunable light
sources:
1-Tunable-laser.
2-Tunable-LED.
Tunable-Laser:
A tunable laser is a laser whose wavelength of
operation can be altered in a controlled manner.
There are many types and categories of tunable
lasers. They exist in the gas, liquid, and solid state.
Among the types of tunable lasers
are, CO2 lasers, dye lasers (liquid and solid state),
transition metal solid-state lasers,
semiconductor crystal and diode lasers, and free
electron lasers. Tunable lasers find applications
in spectroscopy, photochemistry, atomic vapor laser
isotope separation, and optical communications.
Tunable-LED:
It is a Visible-color-tunable lightemitting diodes (LEDs) that changes
continuously from red to blue by
adjusting the external electric bias are
fabricated. It is operating at a fixed
drive current.
