them:
-
Homesickness
-
Time Change (early mornings +late nights)

New View of My Own Culture and the Culture of Spain
• What I thought of the US and my town before:
- US is so well connected with social media and our
country is too violent
• What changed about my view of the US:
- We obsess too much over money, drive too much,
and we are always stressed out/in a hurry
• What I thought of Spain before the program:
- It’s going to be unbearably hot, I’m going to gain so
much weight, and everyone’s going to be smoking!
• What changed about my view of Spain:
- Although it’s also a major city, it’s very different
than Chicago. It’s a city made for pedestrians and for
the creative individual. It’s very easy to fall in love
with Madrid.

“THERE IS NOTHING LIKE
RETURNING TO A PLACE THAT
REMAINS UNCHANGED TO FIND
THE WAYS IN WHICH YOU
YOURSELF HAVE ALTERED.”

Future Plans
How this trip changed my academic
vision
-Helps you figure out your interests and narrow your
vision on possible majors you’d like to pursue in
college
College study abroad plan
-Shows the growth that comes with studying abroad
and the gains from traveling
Future life goals and how this
experience changed them for me
-With the change in academic vision, that leads to a
change of thought for where you’d like to attend
college for the next four years; maybe even as an
international student?

Applying for Our Program
• I heard about the program at: Ms. Gallegos!
• The online application was:
-
Easy to Navigate and Upload Documents
-
Tricky to answer long essay questions:
suggest answering them in separate
document and copying and pasting
• Did not know other students at my school on
my program on the same session
• Formed many new friendships with students
from all over the US, and some Spanish
students too!
• The hardest part of the application was:
-
Deadlines! Ask for your letters of rec early!
