John McManus (History & Political Science) has published a new book on
WWII, Hell Before Their Very Eyes: American Soldiers Liberate Concentration
Camps in Germany, April 1945 (Johns Hopkins Press)

Diana Ahmad (History & Political Science) has been named a Curators’
Teaching Professor, effective January 1, 2016
•
The iGEM design team won third place at the 2015 Jamboree for its project
“Defending North American Bats from the Emerging White-nose Epidemic”
•
Honglan Shi (Chemistry) has received funds totaling $20,687 from the LabTech
America, Inc. for her project: “Validation/Optimization of Automatic Solid Phase
Extraction Methods”
•
Dan Reardon’s (English & Tech Com) article, “Blended and Asynchronous
Course Effectiveness in First-Year Composition: A Case Study,” which used S&T
classrooms as data collection sites, has been accepted by Teacher-Scholar: The
Journal of the State Comprehensive University

Student Recognition:
The Ceramic Engineering Honor Society, Keramos, received the nation’s Outstanding Chapter Award at
the MS&T 2015 Conference held in Columbus, OH.
The student group, Materials Advantage, received a Chapter of Excellence Award at the MS&T 2015
Conference held in Columbus, OH.
EMSE won the ASEM Founders Award for Best Undergraduate Program and Best Student Chapter.

three earned a waiver of trigonometry) (86%)

Enrollment Management
• Thank you to everyone that contributed to the Open House on
November 14. We continue to have good numbers, especially
for majors in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.
• Chancellor’s Scholarship finalists will be on campus Saturday,
December 5. 100 of our most talented applicants for Fall 2016.
• Commencement Ceremony will be on Saturday, December 19
at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
• Student Veteran Resource Center – Opened this fall, located in
the Baptist Student Center serving campus student servicemembers and veterans as a resource to assist them to reach
their educational goals.

– Number of funded proposals up 20% for a total of 101
• Total dollars is $14M which is down 10%
– Number of new proposals submitted is down 18% at 107
• Total dollars is $32.5M which is down 33%

– Total expenditures is $12.3M which is up 6%
– Net grant and contract expenditures is $8.8M which is up
