We live more comfortably today than we did in the past due to new
technology
Change occurred in latter half of the 19th Century due to:
Larger population leading to new ideas
Most of human existence was less comfortable than today
More rewards for innovators which led to improved nutrition and
education

ideas/yr. In 20th c. compared to 3,834/yr from 1500 to 1900;
1,027yr from 1000 to 1500 and 267/yr from 0 to 1500
Our good life depends on continuing this trend towards more

Cause – Effect Prediction (6 marks)
1.
If innovators generate new ideas, then more products will be
produced which meet the wants and needs of Canadian people and
people of other countries.
2.
If people who have skills are allowed to be innovative or use
innovation, then they will have a larger share of the economic
benefits and have larger incomes.
3.
If government increases incentives for innovation, then our
standard of living will grow due to increased quantity and quality
of products and services and unemployment will be reduced.
