Government
The capital of Chad is N'Djamena. Idriss Déby is the president of
Chad. He has been the president of Chad since December 2, 1990. PM
Kalzeubet Pahimi Deubet is the head of Government. Structure wise, Chad
is a republic. The president is the head of state, and instead of being
elected for a four year term like in America, Chads president is elected to a
five year term. The prime minister is put in the position of head of
government by the president. The 188 members of the National Assembly
are elected to four year terms. Chad is equally divided into 23 divisions.
Within those 23 regions you have villages that are divided into cantons,
which are majority of the time lead by local chiefs. Poverty is one of the
major challenges that Chad’s government faces.
The people of Chad believe that the government is responsible for
keeping track of national security, and the groundwork of Chad.. The
constitution grants the freedom of press. The freedom of expression, and
the freedom of assembly. All of these rights have been restricted, which
causes human rights violations. Approximately 50% to 56% of people who
are registered voters participate in elections. Like America, the voting age is
18. Chad is known as one of the most corrupt states in the world.

Arts and Literature
Art is a way for people to express their selves, no matter what
country, and in Chad people love doing just that. French culture has a major
influence in the fine arts and literature department. Contemporary art is a major
type of art in Chad, but Indigenous arts are also a big type of art. Indigenous
means originating in and characteristic of a particular region or country. Native
Artists usually use metal, wood, and leather to make their artwork., musical
instruments, pottery and etc. Jewelry is made with gold, silver, and copper, most
of the same things that American jewelry is made out of. Traditional music
consist of a solo musician singing while playing a lute.. Modern music, often fuses
together genres such as rap, or jazz.
French and Arabic are the two most used languages in Chadian
literature. The majority of Chads author sell their works in France, because of the
fact that their government is stable, unlike Chad’s. Its very hard for the writers to
get published because anyone who speaks out against the conditions of the
country will get punished. There are many books written about conditions of not
only Chad itself but Chads government. There are also many novels based on or
about folktales, legends and other stories that have been pasted down from
generation to generation.

Islam and Christianity
Religion
There is a diverse amount of Religion in Chad. You have
Christian, Muslim, Jehovah Witnesses (J.W), and Indigenous. Thirty-three percent
of the population is said to be Christians, 13 percent of the population follows
indigenous, which are religions that originate in that tribe, or that part of the
country. Half of the country is Muslim.The history that Islam and Chad have
according to records has started as early as the 7th century. A high amount of
Muslims follow Sufism which is a fantasy form of Islam. Sufism is the mystical
Islamic belief and practice in which Muslims seek to find the truth of divine love
and knowledge through direct personal experience of God.
Chad’s constitution states the freedom of Religion. That means
that people can follow any Religion they choose, but it will still be monitored by
the government. The reason that the government have placed restrictions on
certain religious groups, is so they would not violate the rights of others. Another
reason is to keep everything safe and organized. Overall, the restrictions that are
placed on Religions are bad in the people of Chad’s eyes because they are not
able to express their selves, but in a way it is a good thing because everything will
not get out of hand.
