What country has the largest column? What are the reasons that you think that this country has the
highest amount?
In the literacy graph U.S.A, Israel, France, and Japan have the largest column. I think these countries
have the largest columns because they have a good economy, so they can afford to teach their
citizens how to read.
In the Internet user graph, U.S.A has the largest column. I think this because the U.S.A has a large
population and a good economy.
In the population graph, U.S.A has the largest column. I think this because the U.S.A has a good
economy, so people want to live there, we are a free country, and we have good living habitats.
What country has the smallest/lowest? What reasons would cause this country to have a low
amount?
In the literacy graph, Chad has the lowest column. I think this because they have a bad economy,
and bad teachers, so they can’t teach people how to read.
In the Internet user graph, Chad has the lowest column. I think this because the people can’t afford
the internet because of the terrible economy.
In the population graph, Fiji has the lowest column. I think this because Fiji is small geography wise
and they don’t have the best economy.

Look at the 5th and 6th ranked countries. Are they developed, developing, or one of each? Why do
you think that they are where they are in the rankings? Use data to help you answer the question.
The fifth and sixth ranked countries in literacy comparison are Nigeria and Haiti. They are developing.
They are where they are because they can’t afford to teach their entire population how to read. In the
graph it shows that only about 60% percent of the population knows how to read.
The fifth and sixth ranked countries in Internet users are Canada and Israel. They are developed.
They are where they are in the rankings because they don’t have large populations.
The fifth and sixth ranked countries in population comparison are Canada and Chad. Canada is
developed, and Chad is developing. Canada is where they are in the rankings because they don’t
have the best habitats, but they have a good economy. Chad is where they are because they have a
big country geography wise, but a bad economy.

Look at the 7th and 8th ranked countries. Are they developing countries? If so, what do they need to
do in order to get to the top half of the rankings? Use data from any information to help you answer
the question.
In the literacy comparison graph, the last two ranked countries are Chad and Haiti. To get into the top
half of the rankings they need to improve their economy so they can afford better teachers.
In the population comparison graph the seventh and eighth ranked countries are Haiti and Chad. To
get to the top half of the rankings they need to improve their living conditions and economy.
In the Internet User comparison graph the seventh and eighth ranked countries are Ghana and Haiti.
To get to the top half of the rankings by getting a better GDP per capita, so more people can afford the
internet.

Name another country (other than the US) that stands out to you on the chart. Describe the country
and what type of impact it has on world consumption.
On the literacy comparison graph Fiji sticks out to me because they are such a small country, so they
might not have the best teachers, but the still have a high literacy percentage. This country affects
world consumption because they are using resources to teach people how to read.
On the Internet User comparison graph, Nigeria sticks out to me because this country doesn't have a
very high GDP, but they still have a lot of internet users. This country has an impact on world
consumption because they are purchasing computers.
On the Population comparison graph France sticks out to me because their country doesn't have the
biggest area, but it has a large population. This country has an impact on world comparison because
they are buying a lot of resources because they are a small country, with a large population.
