to December 25 there is ADVENT.

people try to be
peaceful and
remember the real
spirit of Christmas.
Christmas Eve
In Lithuania Christmas Eve dinner is more important than
Christmas dinner.
Our traditional Christmas Eve meal are Christmas Eve biscuits.

Preparation for Christmas Eve is associated with purity and light.
Such preparation for the holidays takes all day. Food is being
prepared not only for the special dinner but also for the first day
of Christmas. People are fasting and abstain from meat, so none
of the 12 meals for the Christmas Eve dinner can contain meat.

We usually

lights, colorful bubbles, paper chains, small bells an tinsel.
A star is often placed at the top of the tree.
Sometimes before Christmas we send
Christmas cards to our relatives.
It is typical to exchange presents on Christmas day. Children
normally find them under the Christmas tree and believe that
they were brought by Father Christmas.
