Hint: Algae are photosynthetic organisms that occur in most habitats. They
vary from small, single-celled forms to complex multicellular forms, such as the
giant kelps that grow to 65 meters in length..

 Hint: Adult periodical cicadas molt, mate, lay eggs in trees, and die all within the
month that they’re above ground. Six or sevenweeks later, the young cicadas hatch
from the tree branches, fall to the ground, and burrow 18-20 inches into the ground.
For the next 13 to 17 years, they tunnel through the ground and draw liquid out of
tree roots, their solesource of food.

Hint: The bones of an animal skeleton are organs that make up the larger
system, the skeletal system. Your body has eleven body systems that all work
together. A single system cannot survive or live without the other body systems.

Hint: The Hope Diamond pictured here is not the largest diamond in the world. It
is a very rare dark blue diamond that is about the size of a walnut. It is one of the
largest “dark blue diamonds” know which are very rare. The diamond was cut from a
crystal that came from perhaps 100 miles below the surface of the Earth. It was born
of great heat and pressure where no person has ever gone.

Crustose (crusty)
Hint: A fungus, usually of the class Ascomycetes, that grows symbiotically with algae,
resulting in a composite organism that characteristically forms a crust like or branching
growth on rocks or tree trunks. The fungus part of the organism provides the shelter and
the algae provides the food.
Fructicose (shrubby)
