SIX KINGDOMS…
Differentiate between the previous five-kingdom and current six-kingdom
classification systems.
Monera

Protista
Fungi
Plantae
Animalia
Eubacteria
Archabacteria
Six
Kingdom
5 Kingdom system Monera, Protista, Plantae, Fungi
& Animalia.
Description:
1. Monera- Unicellular and colonial including the true bacteria &
cyanobacteria.(Blue-Green algae)
2. Protista-unicellular animals & unicellular & multicellular algae with
cilia & flagella.
3. Plantae-Plants mostly autorphic,
4. Fungi- Mushrooms & yeasts & molds , eat dead & decaying material
in the soil
5. Animalia- mulitcellular animals, without cell walls & without
photosynthetic pigments
MONERA
Bacteria
Lack nuclei, mitochondria, and chloroplasts found in other life forms
Separated into two kingdoms
1. Eubacteria
2. Archaebacteria
PROTISA
FUNGI
PLANTAE
ANIMALIA
Microorganisms; one celled animals/mostlyheterotrophs
Mushrooms, yeasts, mold; cell walls, chitin
Multicellular organisms
Photosynthetic autotrophs (carry out photosynthesis)
Non-motile (cannot move from place to place)
Multicellular organisms
Heterotrophic
EUBACTERIA
true bacteria
ARCHAEBACTERIA live in harsh environments (really hot really cold etc.)

Organisms in this
kingdom
Eubacteria
Prokaryote
Unicellular
Autotroph/
Heterotroph
Streptococcsu, causes a sore
throat
EColi -Normally found in our
intestines
Archaebacteria
Prokaryote
Unicellular
Autotroph/
Heterotroph
Found in hot volcanic springs,
cold & anaerobic environments
Protista
Eukaryote
Most unicellular;
Some
colonial/multicellular
Autotroph/
Heterotroph
Englena, Parimesium, Amoeba
Fungi
Eukaryote
Most multicellular;
Some unicellular
Heterotroph
Mushrooms, yeasts, molds
Plantae
Eukaryote
Multicellular
Autotroph
Moss, Ferns, flowering plants,
cone bearing trees
Animalia
Eukaryote
Multicellular
Heterotroph
All multi-celled
animals
•Protista
Amoeba move Euglena
Paramecium
by false feet
move using a move using
called
flagella ( a
cilia which are
pseudopodia
whip like tail)
hair like
structures
Fungi
•
Mushrooms
• Yeasts are used to make bread rise
• Some yeasts are found in the human body
Kingdom Plantae
• All of these are members of this Kingdom
Kingdom Animalia

Using the chart below, Which
statement is true about
Archaebacteria?
STATEMENT
CHARACTERISTIC
1
Archaebacteria are found in human intestines
2
Archaebacteria live in harsh environments
3
Archaebacterialook like little animals
4
Archaebacteria are not really bacteria
Statement 2 is correct
They live in harsh environmants like hot springs, &
super cold areas of the world

Which statement correctly
describes the main
difference between the 5
kingdom and the 6
kingdom systems for
classification?
A
Monera in the 5 kingdom system divided into Protista
and fungi in the six- kingdom system.
Monera in the 5 kingdom system is divided into
B Eubacteria and Archaebacteria in the six- kingdom
system.
Eubacteria and Archaebacteria in the five- kingdom
system are combined to form Monera in the sixC kingdom system.
Fungi and Protista in the five- kingdom system are
D combined to form Eubacteria in the six- kingdom
system.
Letter
B
is Correct
