How to build the Lander

Gather all of the materials and lay them on a flat
surface.
Grab the cardboard box and start cutting strips of
duct tape to fit the exterior of the box on every side.
After cutting each strip, make sure you stick them
on the outside of the box only and make sure they
are evenly spaced.
After you are finished putting the tape on the
outside of the box, grab the six sheets of bubble
wrap. Begin placing white glue on the back of one
of the sheets, just enough so it will stick. Carefully
line up the bubble wrap with one interior side of the
box and press it against the box for 15 seconds.
Repeat until all six interior sides of the box are
covered with bubble wrap.
How to build the Lander Part 2
Place 3 of the sponges in the bottom of
the box and make sure they are lined up
next to each other.
5) The bag of cotton balls, and place 15 in
the bottom of the box over the sponges.
6) Get the two balls of yarn and begin
unraveling them. Stop when you have
reached the center. Place the yarn on top
of the cotton after it is all unraveled.
7) Gently place an egg on top of the yarn
and cotton.

Take the other 15 cotton balls and place them
evenly over the egg.
Grab the other ball of yarn and unravel it like
before. Again, lay the yarn over the cotton
balls and make sure it is flat.
Next, get the 3 other sponges and put them
over the yarn with the rough side facing
down. Like before, make sure they are lined
up next to each other.
Take the flap on the box, and place it down.
Get the tape and then secure the flap by
taping it to the sides of the box, until it covers
the box completely.

Lander Analysis

As our Lander was falling, we had it fall
fast. It might’ve fallen fast, because it
was so heavy. We believe that if we
made our Lander lighter, then the impact
with the ground would be faster, harder,
and can possibly make the egg break.
But on the contraire, it also could’ve
survived the impact, due to the light
weight, gravity wouldn’t have pulled so
hard on the Lander.
Transforming Bacteria

Use restriction enzymes to cut the DNA, of the
bacteria, into pieces. Cut DNA, but make sure that
there are sticky ends, and no blunt ends.
Use ligase to join the cut DNA, with the gene of
interest.
Insert a plasmid of your choice into the bacteria to
make a new protein.
Allow the bacteria to grow to make desired proteins.
Wait for bacteria to stop growing.
Once the bacteria has stopped growing, harvest
it/purify it and extract the desired proteins from the
bacteria.
You have now transformed the bacteria into a new
protein.
