SunCell 5 Star Cruise

Welcome!!!
Welcome to the SunCell Cruise! Here, you
will enjoy every part of the plant cell. You can
navigate throughout the boat with our
specialized shuttle called the “Endoplasmic
Reticulum” (ER). We have all sorts of rooms
located in the central vacuole where you can
store your belongings and rest after a long
day’s fun. This is only a sampling of what you
can experience here at SunCell Cruise. So sit
back, relax, and enjoy your virtual tour.
Our Captain, Mr. Nucleus
Mr. Nucleus
Mr. Nucleus is the captain of our ship. He
alone knows how to control the ship, knows what
it does, and what it is made of. He has all the
blueprints of the ship to know how to control
every part of it. His banana yellow raincoat (as
he calls it, his nuclear membrane) protects him
on those stormy days. His raincoat is specially
designed to only let in proteins and excrete
ribosomal subunits. Those ribosomal subunits
are kept in his special raincoat “nucleolus”
pocket. Without him, our ship would not be able
to sail.
The Central Vacuole
This is a picture of one of our regular rooms
located in the central vacuole. You can see the
amount of space in our smallest of rooms. You
can imagine how much you could store in our
presidential suites. The whole vacuole can store
many things. Without the vacuole, the ship
would have no center of support and would
collapse inward. Each room has its own supply
of water with our newly invented water cabinets
where you could store water, sugars, salts,
pigments, toxic molecules

you want them), and any other things you might
need.
Transportation: ER
Believe it or not, we have our own shuttle
system on this cruise called the Endoplasmic
Reticulum (ER). It can take you all over the ship.
In less than a second, you are on the other side
of the cell. SHAZAAM! You can go all over the
place. Along with passengers, it can move
proteins and other important goods needed for
the cell. One part of the shuttle manufactures
proteins and another part manufactures lipids.
The part that manufactures proteins has
ribosomes and the other parts do not.
Cell Wall
Our ship is protected by the finest
cellulose fibrils in the world. Our high
quality material supports the ship above
water. It has double layering. If the primary
layer gives out, it will be supported by an
even stronger secondary wall containing
lignin.
Lysosomes
Other ships don’t have their own form
of destroying wastes. We’ve created a
system of actually destroying the wastes.
It’s almost a form of digestion. All you have
to do is throw your garbage in the trash
cans and leave it outside your door. The
lysosomes will collect the garbage and
dispose of it.
Proud to be a Lysosome
Chloroplast
During the day, our ship collects
energy from the sun. It is the only
solar powered ship. It uses a special
technique to collect energy called
Photosynthesis. This energy travels
all through the cell giving power to
everything. If we did not have this
energy, there is no way our ship
could run.
Mitochondria
Mitochondria is the name of our
ship’s engines. It supplies power to
all parts of the ship. Without that
power, the ship would not be able to
run. Our ship runs off ATP
(Adenosine Triphosphate), which is
created in the Mitochondria. Our
ship’s engines create so much ATP
that it is the fastest cruise in the
world.
Flagella
Our ship’s propellers are called Flagella.
They move the ship all over the sea. Without
them, the ship would not move and stay in the
harbor. Our flagella are whiplike structures
that are very efficient.
HAVE FUN!
Now that you have seen
everything on our ship, we hope you
feel excited about coming to sail
with us. You will have tons of fun!
Thanks again,
