Ultra-Filtration drinking water
Technology
 Tech-Jal (Tech-Water) is a drinking water technology developed by Technorbital
using a polymeric hollow fiber membrane
 Removes dust, dirt, turbidity, Chlorine and odor from the contaminated water
 Removes 99.999% viruses (like Hepatitis A & E, Polio virus) from the
raw water
 Removes 99.9999 bacteria (like E-coli) from the raw water
 Can operate without electricity
 Can operate without gravity also (using manual paddle pump)
 The manual paddle pump can suck water from river, pond or
any ground water source (suction head-20 ft., Discharge head-40 ft.)
 Produces up to 2000 liters of drinking water in one hour
Very easy for operation and maintenance for a layman
 Membrane life – up to 3 years (depending on the quality of water)
 Zero expense on maintenance
 Very easy to clean
 UF membrane is with inherent anti-fouling properties
 No wastage of water
 Retain minerals in drinking water

Air Piston Pump
Normal Filtration Protocol
1. Open valve 1, 2 and 4 while keeping valve 3 and 5 closed
2. Let the water flow from valve 4 (reject line) making sure all air
is passed out of the system (this process is for the startup only,
valve 3 and 5 remain close)
3. Once the water starts flowing with full flow rate from valve 4,
close the valve 4 and open valve 3 ( valve 5 remains close)
4. The safe drinking water will start coming out from drinking
water line (valve 3).
5. Connect this line to the drinking water taps.

Air Piston Pump
UF Membrane Cleaning Protocol
1. Close valve 1, 2 and 3 while keeping valve 4 and 5 open
2. Paddle the air piston pump slowly three times and let the water come out of
reject line (valve 4)
3. Repeat step 2 till water stops coming out of reject line (valve 4)
4. Make sure the pressure of the air piston pump does not exceed 2 bar.
5. In case of excessive pressure generation by air piston pump, open valve 3 to
release the air pressure
6. After completing the backwashing process, slowly push down the air piston
pump paddle (make sure valve 5 and 4 are open while doing this) and lock
it in resting position.
7. Close valve 4 and 5
8. UF backwashing is recommended once in a day for the long life of
membrane

UF Membrane Cleaning Protocol
PP Pre-Filter Washing Protocol
1. Close valve 1 and 2
2. Un-screw the PP pre-filter lower casing using the spanner
provided with the system
3. Remove the PP candle from the casing
4. Wash the PP candle manually with clean water to remove the
dirt and suspended solids
5. Put back the clean PP candle in the casing and screw the casing
tight
6. This activity can be done once in a week (If quality of raw
water is good then PP filter can be cleaned once in 15 days)
Disinfection with Hypo Solution
1. Prepare a Hypo solution (20 ml in one liter water)
2. Mix Hypo solution (20ml+1 lit water) in to the 20 lit water in a drum/bucket
3. Connect the manual paddle pump outlet to the inlet (Valve 1) of the filtration system
4. Make sure all the air is removed from the manual paddle pump inlet and outlet pipe
line
5. Deep the suction foot valve of the manual paddle pump into the drum/bucket
containing hypo solution water
6. Make sure that the suction pipe of the paddle pump is filled with water
7. Open valves 1, 2 and 4. Keep valve 3 and 5 close
8. Start paddling the paddle pump still water starts coming out of reject line (valve 4)
9. Once water starts coming out of reject line (valve 4), stop paddling the pump and
close all the valves (including valve 4)
10. Let the hypo solution in the system for one hour
11. After one hour, flush the hypo solution out by plain water using normal filtration
protocol (i.e., valve 1, 2 and 3 open and valve 4, 5 closed) for 20 minutes
6. This activity is recommended for the startup only.
7. The hypo solution wash is not recommended more than once in a month
8. The repeatability of the Hypo solution wash depends on the physical observation of
any fungal/bacterial/algee growth seen in the pre-filter or pipe lines
Precautions for UF Membrane
• Always make sure that the UF module is filled with
some water. Never let it dry. The dryness may crack
the hollow fibers.
• For the longer life of UF membrane, it is
recommended to have 5-10% water rejection from
the reject line.
