THON is the largest
student run
organization which
raises money all year
long to help find a cure
for pediatric cancer.
I. THON is a yearlong event.
II. THON is the largest student run
organization in the country.
III. It is an organization that helps to raise
Money for pediatric cancer.
♦ THON first began in the year 1973
♦ Started off with ONLY 39 dance partners – Today
there are 708!
♦ 1973 they raised $2000
♦ Last year THON raised around $7.8 million
♦ This year we raised $9.5 million dollars!

♦ Located the Penn State Children’s Hospital
♦ Created by Irma and Charles Millard after their son

THON would NEVER
be possible if it
weren’t for all of the
student volunteers!
As of last year there were
approximately 15,000
volunteers and 700
dancers that took part
in the two day dance
marathon.

positions, removed
positions, expanded
our number of
volunteers and
participants,” said
Caitlin Zankowski.
Even though
THON has over
15,000
volunteers they
have to work
yearlong to
raise all the
money they do.
