Web Design Languages
Web pages are created using a variety of languages:
1. HTML
HT for HyperText which means the links that connect one page to another
ML for MarkupLanguage which are the <tags> that mark the structure of a page
2. CSS
Cascading style sheets (they “cascade from site-wide styles,
to page styles to individual parts of the page with unique styles)
3. JavaScript
Adds interaction to a page with moving words, pictures and fill in the blanks.

What do I need to run Pixel Hack?
● Access to internet
● Supported browsers: IE 10+, Safari 6+, Firefox or Chrome latest.
Do I need to know how to code? What language will I learn to use? What app
● We’ll start from the very basics, no prior coding experience required!
● We’ll then build on basics to get into more advanced looping and functions.
● Learners will learn and code in CoffeeScript—a powerful variant of JavaScript, the language behind the
web.
How long will Pixel Hack take?
● Implementation is flexible! We include suggestions depending on how much time you have.

2. Start with Pong!
Your next challenge will unlock once you’ve completed the challenge
before it. You’ll always see instructions at the top of the screen.
The K guide always shows:
● new coding terms you’ll encounter in that challenge
● full instructions for mentors, parents, guides to follow along
● a brief history of the art style in that video game
The hint button
always shows the code
behind the picture if
you’re stuck.
3. Hack/Remix it!
We’ll show suggested Easy, Medium, and Hard remixes after each challenge
to apply coding concepts.
