Governors Teacher Network Action Research
Deb Ramey, Weaver Academy
WHAT IS GOVERNOR’S TEACHER
NETWORK (GTN)?
• A cohort of teachers in North Carolina that applied
and were selected to create resources for teachers
that will be housed on HomeBase
• Met at end of June for 2-day training with DPI
• Ongoing training, research, and creation of
professional development module throughout this
school year
WHAT IS ACTION RESEARCH?
Most
of you do this
ALL the time!!
AREA OF FOCUS
• Increase student engagement through the use of Web 2.0 and 3.0 tools.
• Students are used to constant stimulation through their use of technology
• quickly become disengaged in the traditional classroom and often do not
participate or complete assignments.
• I hope to increase student engagement in my classes by using more Web 2.0 and
3.0 tools both in instruction and in their daily work/homework assignments.
• Increased engagement with the material will lead to more overall learning and
greater success in the course.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
• Supposed to give a PD presentation to the school in the Spring when finished
with research (implementation to be determined) (GTN requirement)
• My plan for this is 30-45 minute demo of successfully implemented tools, then
work period for teachers to explore tools on own and come up with at least one
implementation
• PDP Goal
• Participate in Spring PD session
• Discuss what kind of tools you think would be useful to you and come up with
some to explore and implement
• Implement a tool(s) and provide feedback to me on whether students seemed
more or less engaged (your observation, survey, ask them)
THANK YOU!!
HAVE A HAPPY TUESDAY!!
