Transgender Restrooms?
Summary:
On Friday, February 19,2015, Kentucky Senate was approached by
Henry Brousseau. Henry is a transgender who attends Louisville Collegiate
in Louisville, Kentucky. He spoke out against a bill that stated that transgender
students were required to use designated restrooms for transgenders or facility
restrooms. Henry stated that the bill was discrimination and hatred towards transgenders.
Summary Continued:
“when you walk in somewhere where nobody else goes or have to
leave class for extra time to walk into the basement, that opens yourself up
to not being a normal kid," said Brousseau, "I don't feel like I should have to change
my life to accommodate their hatred.“ The Senate said it wasn’t discrimination or hate, but
it was for the safety of students. On February 27th, Kentucky Senate voted (27-9) and sent
the legislations to the House of Representative.
Universal Idea:
• Safety of
Students
• Privacy
• Equality in Schools
• LGBT Right
• Rights to Minorities
• Discrimination
• Cissexism
Things to consider:
Should transgenders be able to use their restroom of
Choice or by their biological gender?
Do you think that transgender restrooms provide equality or
discrimination?
Argument Prompt:
In recent news, Kentucky Senate has passed a law that
letting transgender students to use separate, designated restrooms.
Many feel that this is discrimination and taking away their rights. Write a

should make special accommodations for people of the LGBT community.
