Introduction



Web site must be tested to make sure all the
elements work as intended, accomplishes the site
plans stated goals and objectives, and the content
satisfies the target audience’s need.
After that the web site is ready to be publish to a
Web server to make it available to the audience.
Once Web site is published, the will be the ongoing
processes of promoting an maintaining the Web site.
1. Web Site Testing
Before publishing to a Web server, you must test the
site to identify and fix any undetected problems
with navigation.
 Testing also identifies any problems with structure
and content.
 There are TWO types of testing involve:
1. Self-Testing
2. Target Audience Testing


 During this phase, site’s structure, page layout,
color scheme and other elements will be tested to
ensure the Web site’s look and function as
designed to confirm that all aspects of design plan
are satisfied.

In Self-Testing process, you should do the following:
Ensure all images appear in the page layout as designed.
Test all internal and external links to make sure they work
properly and none are broken links. Make sure it open the correct
page when clicked.
Read all the text content and make sure it can be read and
understand.
Use different browsers and different browser versions running on
different operating system platforms, including mobile device if
relevant.
Correct any problem that arose during testing, and retest to verify
your corrections solved the issues.

 The second testing phase involves recruiting a
small group of testers, including colleagues who
are not involved in the site development, people
who represent your target audience, and other
interested parties, to review your Web site and
test its navigation, links, and other features.

Observe the testers to determine the following:
Which pages appear to appeal to them?
Which pages appear to disinterest them?
How much time do they spend on various pages?
Which links do they or ignore?
How easily do they navigate the Web site?

complete a survey.
This process will help you to identify specific setting
(such as browser version, screen resolution, and
operating system) being used by the tester.

expectations for content at the site?

site to others?

the live server, you must check the following
elements on your Web site:

i. Download the desired Web page from the Web
server to your computer, if necessary, to work with the

ii. Update the Web page.
iii. Open the Web page.
iv. Open the Web page in a browser and check the
changes and the page display.
v. If the changes and the page display are acceptable,
then upload the updated page to the server,
replacing the existing page.

