Introduction
• Do you know where butterflies come from?
• In this WebQuest you and your partner will learn
about butterflies You will use the Internet to
see each of the 4 stages of the butterfly life
cycle

Task #1
• Review of butterfly knowledge.
• Assign students into pairs.
• Partners will look at other butterfly web quests
and review their findings about the following:
• Where do butterflies come from?
• Look at a Swallowtail butterfly.
• Watch a video of a caterpillar hatch from
its egg!
Task #2
• Color poster of the four stages of a butterfly.
• Create different art projects of butterflies:

Color a picture of a monarch butterfly.
Create “Eggs on a Leaf” art project.
Create “Egg Carton Caterpillars”
Create “The Adult Butterfly”
Task #3
• Discuss and write a paragraph (4 sentences) of
what you and your partner have learned.
Try to answer some of the following questions:
• Do butterflies grow up differently from
people?
• How do these insects change as they grow?
• How many stages do they have?
• What do the stages look like?
Evaluation
• Teacher will provide a rubric to asses
the students work!
• I hope you learned more about
butterflies during this web quest!
