pages and documents
Works with FirstClass®!
•Takes advantage of the distributed site management capabilities of
FirstClass®
•Leverages existing skills and paradigms for FirstClass® users
Pick a Skin and Fill it In!
Pre-set ‘skins’ are available to
automatically set all fonts, font
attributes, graphical
backgrounds, and color settings
to a common theme.
Picking a ‘skin’ allows the user
to concentrate only on the
content part of the page – all of
the formatting is taken care of .
The user still has the flexibility
to include or remove the
components of the page (Header
Section, Navigation Sidebar,
etc.) if desired, but most
formatting is not alterable in a
skin.
How RWD Works
As with any other FirstClass web page, you create the page
in a folder or conference that is viewable from the Web. To create
And RWD page, use the FirstClass Client menu sequence:
How RWD Works
When the RWD form opens up, you are now ready to create your
web page.
Give the page a name, subject, and enter
any keywords and abstract information.
Remember, the home page in your site must
be called Home Page
Fill in the content for the body of
the page
How RWD Works
Upload any images that you wish to have displayed in the RWD
components of your page to your local images folder. Enter the
path to those images in the RWD form using the syntax:
Images/myfile.jpg - this is the same for all graphics including background images although
you may use any name for folder and may create subfolders, provided you include the names in your
path – eg. Images/logos/mylogo.gif
Decide if you want a shadow around the
objects on the page – this feature works
with skins as well as custom pages
If creating a custom page, either set the
background color of the page or choose a
background image (upload to your images
folder first) for the page.
If you wish to use one of the pre-formatted
skins that ship with RWD, simply choose
it here – all formatting throughout the
form is now set – fonts colors, etc.
This is an example of the shadow effect
RWD Header Section
Decide if you want to
include a Header Section
on your page using the
Master Switch
RWD Header Section
Either type in a Title for your
page, or choose a graphical
image instead.
If creating a custom page, use the
formatting tools to set the
attributes of the titles. If using a
skin, simply fill in the content and
leave the formatting to RWD.
RWD Header Section
Do the same thing for the
Subtitle – just leave it
blank if you don’t want one
RWD Header Section
If you want a Logo, upload
it to your images file and
tell RWD where you want it
displayed
If you want it to link to
another location when
clicked, enter the link info
RWD Header Section
You can include one or two
scrolling messages that can
each be linked to a different
location if desired.
For custom pages, set the font
attributes, if using a skin, these
settings have no effect.
RWD Header Section
Finally, decide if you want a
banner graphic to be displayed
across the top of the web page.
If so, upload the image to your
images folder and enter the path.
You can give the Header Section
a different background color or a
different background image than
the global page setting.
RWD Header Links Bar
Decide if you want a Header Links
bar only, a Header and Footer bar
together, or neither (the Footer Links
Bar is a duplicate copy of the Header
Links bar except that it appears at the
bottom of the page)
Links on the bar are unlimited in
number - except as they fit
RWD Header Links Bar
Home and Back Links, if desired,
are pre-set.
If the home page link you want
refers to the home page in your
site, simply type the name
home page
in the field.
RWD Header Links Bar
Format the look of the Header
Links / Footer Links Bar using
a graphic or a solid color and
determine font and font
attributes.
Again, for pre-set skins, these
options are taken care of
automatically.
RWD Header Links Bar
Current date, Last modified
date, a contact email link, and
a help link can be added in
this tab.
RWD Navigation Sidebar
Decide if you want a
Navigation sidebar
and where you want
it displayed
Create an unlimited
number of links
using text or
graphics
Format each line as a
regular link
Or as a headline
Note: do not use the Insert New Row feature unless you are using FirstClass® 8
RWD Navigation Sidebar
Very flexible
formatting is
available for both
regular links, and
headlines - including
graphical bullets for
both.
These controls have
no effect when a skin
is being used
RWD Information Sidebar
Include or hide the
Information sidebar
Create any number of
items with links
RWD Information Sidebar
Format background,
titles, body and links
when creating a
custom page, just as
you did in the
Navigation Sidebar
section.
RWD Web Page
RWD Graphics Page
RWD Graphics Page
To use the Graphics Gallery, first
tell RWD to suppress the normal
FirstClass page content.
Next, decide on the number of graphics
you want to display in each row, and if
you want frames around the graphics.
Set the font style for captions.
Add the pre-sized graphics (keep them
similar in actual size) to the list using the
path and file name: images/mygraphic.jpg
Add the caption for the picture, set it to
scroll or be static, and add any link
destination you want for that image.
