Accessible Web Export Options
Resources
PowerPoint's Web Export
• MS PowerPoint's Save As Web Page export
creates a Web page interface with limited
accessibility support
• Few options as to what accessibility information
you can add to the PowerPoint content when
exporting to the Web
• Additional usability issues as well for those on
non-IE browsers or those lacking the PowerPoint
application/viewer
Working in PowerPoint
• Use the Slide Layout
templates from
MS PowerPoint
• Add text descriptions to
relevant images in
PowerPoint
• Can move the
templates around to
achieve specific layout
• Use the Table and Chart
tools in PowerPoint to
streamline the
conversion process

• Add the appropriate accessibility information
when authoring your PowerPoint
presentations
– Image descriptions
– Captions for embedded videos
– Watch for the preset hyperlink colors!
• Use the PowerPoint slide layouts when adding
content and move those around as opposed to
creating text boxes

PowerPoint presentation to an accessible
format (HTML or PDF)
• Can still provide a hyperlink the original
PowerPoint presentation as well
• Introduction to Web Accessibility (PPT)
• Introduction to Web Accessibility (HTML)
