The difference between Hexagonal and 12 angular

The difference between Hexagonal and 12 angular points on the socket :
1. Timing:
The hexagonal is traditional shape, but the 12 angular is later than Hexagonal .
2.Function:
The angle of 12 angular are the double angles of hexagonal. When you used the
wrench to put into screw, the hexagonal wrench needs 60 angle, but 12 angular
wrench needs 30 angle. (As figure)
3.Size:
The functions and size of the 12 points type is the same with the 6 points type and its
inner part is serrate. It can be fitted with the screw’s head or bolts more closely, its
shape looks like plum blossom, so it also known as plum blossom type.
The red frame is hexagonal and the black frame
is 12 angular.

the screws in the machines.

What is the difference of the teeth application for
ratchet ?

Due to the different number of teeth, the main difference is the angle of rotation. The
circle is 360 degrees. When the numbers of teeth is bigger, each tooth is assigned to
the smaller angle. (As figure)
For example,
When the head of ratchet is 72 teeth, the angle of each tooth is 5°. In other hand,
when the head of ratchet is 24 teeth, the angle of each tooth will be 15°.

If the angle of teeth is smaller, then you can use less force on turning its angle.
When repair technician fixed the car in a narrow place, he can’t use bigger turning

The ratchet has two using functions that divide into PUSH and NO PUSH.( As figure)
The sockets add the friction with handle and ratchet when setting sockets doesn’t shake, so
they process bead groove in the square hole. The bead groove of sockets gets stuck the
bead of connector. The PUSH and NO PUSH buttons of ratchet are designed for the bead
groove.

The ratchet has direction button which controls the clockwise and counterclockwise
and circle button which uses to set or disassemble sockets. These are two functions:
1. The steel ball will sink when you press the circle button, so it can reduce the
resistance to set the socket.
2. The socket can’t be taken off if you don’t press the circle button, so it can prevent
the socket falling and causing an accident.

can’t set into the ratchet when you don’t press
the button.

When you don’t press the button, you can’t take
off socket from the ratchet. (When working on
the high altitude, it can prevent from socket
dropping and causing danger.)
