Protagonist:
Dave




Dave is a genetically altered
chimpanzee with more human
like facial features and more
monkey like habits.
He has DNA from another
character, and an altered
genome, which gives him the
ability to speak.
He is kind, and very
protective of his creators son,
eventually biting off the ear of
a man trying to harm him.
Dave is played off as a human
with a rare genetic disease
that makes his body grow hair
all over. This keeps the media
away.
Dave never does anything to
anyone without provocation,
and holds a childlike
innocence through the whole
story. He is very sincere.
Antagonist:
Vasco Borden




A bounty hunter sent to
retrieve body tissues
containing genes a court
deemed the property of
BioGen from a young boy.
The young boys friend, Dave,
bites Vasco’s ear off when he
sees Vasco with the biopsy
needle.
Vasco will go to anything to
get his job done.
He is huge and scary.
Favorite character:
Henry Kendall




Scientist, and creator of Dave.
Rather than let the lab kill
Dave off, he risks jail time
and take Dave with him back
to his home.
Has a son with a bully
problem, and a daughter who
is selling her eggs to a
crooked doctor for profit.
He keeps a good mind and
loves his family and Dave
through the whole book, no
matter what happens.







Nephew of main investor for
Biogen.
Good looking guy.
Head of security at BioGen.
Runs into a girl at a soccer game
(while watching fifteen year old
girls) and eventually gets
accused of raping her, although
you later find out she injured
herself to help a company get
him arrested.
Cant find a good defense, so his
lawyer decides to use a gene
that makes people want to take
risks as a defence.
Goes across country taking
thrills and getting into trouble
as proof of the gene.



Frank Burnet’s cell lines are contaminated, and
Vasco is hired to retrieve new cells from Frank,
Alex, or Jamie. The cells are legally considered
“stolen property”
Jamie is nearly abducted at school, so Alex
takes him to her friend Lynn’s House
Dave is brought home from the research
facility and dressed up as a human
Lynn makes fake websites to legitimize a fake
disease, convincing others Dave is a human
being





A school bully tries to shoot Dave
Vasco abducts Lynn’s son Jamie instead of
Alex’s son Jamie, and Dave bites his ear off
Vasco realizes his mistake and gets the correct
Jamie, takes him to a spa in the desert to get
organ samples
Alex holds Vasco at gunpoint and gets her son
back
A court rules that the cells are not allowed to
be taken at will, the only ones that belonged to
BioGen were the ones originally at the facility






The owner of BioGen loses his money
Vasco disappears
Both Jamie’s are safe
The bully who shot at Dave is arrested
Brad Gordon is injured in a fight
Lives go back to normal


Everyone is safe
Kendall family decides to let Dave continue
living with them

The time period is now. It is important because
the issue with gene patents is now. They bagan
a while ago, and seemed fine, but issues like
owning a gene inside a persons body are
problems occurring now.



