Cancer nanotheranostics combines nanobiotechnology and cancer biology, aiming for early diagnosi
s, accurate molecular imaging, and precise treatment at the right timing and proper dose, followed by
real-time monitoring of treatment efficacy. This talk provides an overview of the state-of-the-art of c
ancer nanotheranostics from the design of nanobiosensors for ultrasensitive biomarker detection in vi
tro, application of molecular imaging techniques for in vivo measurement of cancer hallmarks, imag
e-guided cancer interventions, to nanoparticle platforms for co-delivery of imaging labels and therap
eutic genes and drug molecules. The challenges of clinical translation of cancer nanotheranostic are a
lso discussed.
报告人简介:
Dr. Xiaoyuan (Shawn) Chen received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Idaho (1999). After
two postdocs at Syracuse University and Washington University in St. Louis, he started his Assistant Pr
ofessorship in 2002 and then moved to Stanford in 2004. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 20
08. He moved to NIH in 2009 and became a Senior Investigator and Chief of the Laboratory of Molecu
lar Imaging and Nanomedicine (LOMIN) at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengin
eering (NIBIB), NIH. His current research interests include development of molecular imaging toolbox
for better understanding of biology, early diagnosis of disease, monitoring therapy response, and guidin
g drug discovery/development. His lab puts special emphasis on high-sensitivity nanosensors for bioma
rker detection and theranostic nanomedicine for imaging, gene and drug delivery, and monitoring of tre
atment. Dr. Chen has published about 500 peer-reviewed papers (H-index = 87, total citations > 27,000
based on Google Scholar) and numerous books and book chapters. He is the founding editor of journal
“Theranostics” (2014 IF = 8.022). He is also the Past President of Chinese-American Society of Nuclea
r Medicine and Molecular Imaging (CASNMMI) and President-Elect of the Radiopharmaceutical Scien
ce Council (RPSC), Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).
