Characteristics of Life
Glucose -- ah, sugar sugar -You are my favorite fuel
From the blood-borne substrate pool.
Glucose -- monosaccharide sugar -You're sweeter than a woman's kiss
'Cause I need you for glycolysis.
I just can't believe the way my muscles break you down.
(My glycogen is almost gone.)
A few more seconds and I'll be rigor mortis-bound.
(Acidosis done me wrong.)
Your sweet is turning sour, baby.
I'm losing all my power, baby.
I'm gonna make your muscles ache.
No, no, no!
I'm swimming in lactate, baby.
Yes, I'm swimming in lactate, baby.
Now I'm drowning in lactate, baby.
I'm gonna make your muscles ache.
No, no, no!
I'm drowning in lactate, baby.
QuickTi me™ and a
decompressor
are needed to see thi s pi ctur e.
Shivering is an example
of homeostasis
Ah, glucose -- ah, sugar sugar -I used you up and you left me flat;
Now I'll have to get my kicks from fat.
Oh, glucose, glucose, sugar, sugar,
The honeymoon is over now. Your sweet
is turning sour, baby.
Ah, glucose -- ah, sugar sugar -I used you up and you left me flat;
Now I'll have to get my kicks from fat.
Oh, glucose, glucose, sugar, sugar,
The honeymoon is over now.
The metabolism is
the sum of all
The traits that all life forms
chemical
share are metabolism,
processes.
reproduction, growth, and
Heredity.
The producers provide food for the consumers which then provide food
for other consumers
The energy transferred creates the circleof life
Food chain Grass-> Kangaroos-> Dingoes-> Human
Kangaroos are the prey of dingoes
When two groups compete for the same niche it
usually results in one group being excluded
Example found in history
The Native Americans fought their land but eventually
the United States dominated.
Indian Chief
American Flag, because this represents what the Indians
were fighting against
All Living things are made of the most basic unit of life, cells all of
which come from preexisting cells
Hooke first identified cells using a microscope
The magnified image is of an owl feather
Shows structure of owl feather
Tegenaria Domestica commonly known as a
domestic house spider
Spiders are arthropods therefore they go
through the process of photosynthesis.
Cellular respiration and Photosynthesis go
hand in hand
Spider we commonly see
Cancer is a uncontrollable cell cycle
Example: Retroperitoneal Sarcomas
A rare neoplasm tumors that infects the soft tissue
Approximately 8600 new cases in the United States
annually
Mitosis is the process of
a cell dividing its
nucleus and organelles
This tumor is benign
Meiosis is the cell’s production of
gametes for sexual reproduction.
An Ode to Eggs
By Rengus Ishyius
Oh wonderful eggs, they simply amaze
even while sitting around in prophase
the nucleus dissolves and not a second too late
for the chromosomes line up on the metaphase plate
when anaphase comes the separation will start
as the spindle fibers pull the chromosomes apart
telophase is short because soon comes the cue
for the process to proceed to prophase two
in metaphase two its back to the plate
for anaphase two where the chromatids separate
after telophase two the cells are cut into pieces
thanks to the process of cytokinesis
now the eggs have a chance to one day maybe
find their match and have a baby
This show the process of meiosis
Dominate and Recessive traits shine through
only according to your genotype and that of
your parent’s.
Example: Bradley’s blue eyes
Mother: Brown eyes
Father: Blue Eyes
Brown eyes are dominant
Blue eyes are recessive

This is the process of synthesizing DNA and RNA
through the use of enzymes

Independence Day
The main characters in this movie are, Cpt.
Steven Hiller and president Thomas J.
Whitmore.
The adaptations the characters in benefited them
was that learned how to put a virus in the
mother ship that controlled all the other ships.
Evolution is
change over
time through
adaptations
and natural
selection.
Our favorite topics we covered in Biology was
DNA and heredity.
We enjoyed our year in Mrs. Woodman’s 8th
hour freshman class.
We look forward to our years to go of science
exploration!
