Nutrituon
• The way we as a group decided to
define nutrition was by comparing fat
by gram, Protein by gram, and dietary
fiber by gram.
Fat
• Fats, or lipids, are nutrients in food that the body uses to build cell
membranes, nerve tissue (like the brain), and hormones. The body
also uses fat as fuel. If fats that a person has eaten aren't burned
as energy or used as building blocks, they are stored by the body
in fat cells. This is the body's way of thinking ahead: By saving fat
for future use, it plans for times when food might be scarce.
Protein
• Proteins are essential nutrients for the human body. They are one
of the building blocks of body tissue, and can also serve as a fuel
source. As a fuel, proteins contain 4 kcal(calorie) per gram, just
like carbohydrates and unlike lipids, which contain 9 kcal per
gram. The most important aspect and defining characteristic of
protein from a nutritional standpoint is its amino acid
composition.
Dietary Fiber
• Dietary fiber, also known as roughage or bulk, includes all parts
of plant foods that your body can't digest or absorb. Unlike other
food components, such as fats, proteins or carbohydrates —
which your body breaks down and absorbs — fiber isn't digested
by your body. Instead, it passes relatively intact through your
stomach, small intestine, colon and out of your body.

What does this mean?
• After gathering all this information we have come to the conclusion that the
cliché saying of “You get what you pay for” really applies here. The most
expensive options locally: Veggie Grill & Chipotle, are actually going to give
you the healthiest protein, fat, and fiber for your money. We urge to stay
away from McDonalds due to unhealthy meat choices, but encourage Jimmy
Johns and Subway as great alternatives if you don’t have $9.00 to spend.
