Answer:
• Renaissance Italy was an urban society.
• It was an age of recovery (plague, political
instability (feudalism), & decline in Church.
• A new focus on human beings and individual
ability and worth. (humanism)

center of the Renaissance?
Answer:
Florence, Italy
(Controlled by the Medici Family who
had a passion for art & sponsored
many artists)

Northern artists did not use fresco.
They painted illustrations for books and
wooden panel for altar pieces.
