 In South Dakota you can be 18 years old to purchase
alcohol.
 This is a myth, you must be 21 years old to purchase
alcohol anywhere in the United States.

The baby can be born with physical and mental
deformities. This is called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome!
 Alcohol is very addictive. Drinking alcohol can
become a habit that is hard to give up

addictions for good?
 There are 3 different types of alcohol with beer being
the weakest of the three.
 What alcohol is considered the strongest?
 The frontal lobe of the brain controls our balance and
coordination.
 The cerebellum controls our balance and coordination!
 The brain stem is where our long-term memories are
created.
 Our long-term memories are created in our
hippocampus!
 The frontal lobe helps us decided between right and
wrong. It is called the “seat of higher intellectual
functions.”
 Our heart pumps alcohol throughout our body. This
will cause our body temperature to rise along with our
BAC level.
 What does BAC stand for?
 Alcohol related accidents are the leading cause of
death among people 15-24 years of age.
 Alcohol numbs normal inhibitions. When drinking, a
person, may say/do things he/she would not say/do
when sober.
 Just drinking alcohol can’t kill you.
 Alcohol is extremely dangerous and can lead to death
if to much alcohol is consumed.
 Alcohol can not change your brain.
 Your brain is growing in size and expanding
academically until the age of 21. Drinking before the
age of 21 is very dangerous.
 Withdrawal is the brain’s way of trying to recover after
heavy alcohol use.
 Withdrawal is one of the main reasons why many
people can not beat their alcohol addiction.
 When people drive drunk they only hurt themselves.

 Binge drinking is drinking a large amount of alcohol in
a short period of time.
 The amount of alcohol a person can consume before
becoming intoxicated differs in everyone.
 Many factors come into play:
 Size
 Tolerance
 Food in stomach
 How fast a person drinks
 Drinking is found to help people relax, so they can
deal with their problems better the next day.
 This a myth. Those problems will still exist and now
your brain will not be working at its best, the next day.
Drinking does not make your problems go away it
actually creates more problems!
