THE FUNNY BONE
The sensations resulting from knocking the
“funny bone” do not arise from the bone, itself,
but from a large nerve (ulnar nerve). The nerve
happens to lie in a groove on the bone as it
passes from the upper arm to the hand. Since
it lies against the hard bone between the
humerus and the ulna, and is located only just
beneath the skin, the nerve is very vulnerable
to being stimulated.
