be individual’s homes. Orthodox Albanian Church Pimlico

•The most predominant Eastern European groups (in order) in Newham are: POLISH, LITHUANIAN, ALBANIAN, RUSSIAN, ROMANIAN, SLOVAKIAN, LATVIAN & CZECH
•Most Albanians took on Kosovan identities to aid UK immigration.
•Most of the Elder generation from Poland and Lithuania speak, read and write Russian due to Soviet rule.
•The fall of communism in 1989 allowed Eastern Europeans to travel freely and 15,000 of them applied for asylum in Britain that year
•Despite being the largest East European group, there is no designated place of worship for the Polish community, who travel to west London and Islington for Polish mass. The place of
worship for Lithuanians is St Marks Church (Beckton Community Centre)
