The most common form of drug test is
the urine test, likely due to its
inexpensiveness.
•
Urine testing detects past drug
use, not real-time.
•
Urine tests are highly sensitive to
marijuana, which stays in the
system longer. Opiates or
cocaine, on the other hand, flush
from the system within 2-3 days,
and are rarely detected.
•
Low tolerance for marijuana, and
high tolerance for other drugs–
plus the fact that urine tests often
do not register alcohol use–make
urine testing a flawed technology.
Whereas urine tests typically detect past usage,
blood tests can be used to gauge real-time
impairment. Therefore, blood tests are ideal for
roadside or workplace accidents and sobriety
checks. Though blood sampling is considered the
most accurate method of testing, it’s also the most
expensive, and rarely used.
Less common but extremely accurate, hair tests
can be used to test most major drugs via a hair
sample. Drugs are detectable as long as the hair
isn’t cut, growing out just as hair dye does. Hair
tests are favored because they can detect drug
use within a window of about a week and going
back for several months or more.
Saliva testing is a form of drug test that has recently
become more common. This test costs less than
blood tests, but is more expensive than traditional
urine tests. Saliva tests are most reliable for detection
of methamphetamine and opiates, but not as helpful
for identifying THC or cannabinoids. Saliva tests can
detect recent usage and are easy to administer, yet
require lab processing to ensure accuracy.
When it comes to passing a urine test, time is your best bet as some
substances (like THC) can stay in the system for at least a month. Luckily, as
urine tests are the most common form of testing, there are many options
available for those looking to pass.
•
Additives: Chemical solutions,
available from Clear Test, can be
used to doctor a urine sample and
control the results.
•
Detox Drinks: Specially-formulated
drinks which hold all toxins in the
body for up to five hours, allowing
the consumer a window for passing
a urine test.
•
Synthetic Urine: Many companies
manufacture urine which can be
hidden for use during a test, in place
of real urine.
Luckily, drugs are removed
from the blood stream in a
short period of time. If you’re
able to refrain from using
drugs for about 48 hours
before the test, you should be
able to pass with flying
colors. Unlike other forms of
drug testing, it’s hard to game
the system during a blood
test because they are very
accurate and can identify
herbs or chemicals used to
potentially alter your results.
Beyond outright abstaining
from using drugs, follicle
shampoos are the best
way to beat a hair test.
Most products cannot be
detected by the lab
administering the test.
Follicle shampoos can last
up to eight hours, but
recently revised testing
standards may affect your
results—so do your
research before making
an investment.
Saliva tests only register
recent drug use (within
two to three days). To
avoid unwanted results
on your saliva drug test,
look for effervescent
tablets or mouthwash
products that typically
work for at least two
hours. There are also
chewing gum products
available, such as Oral
Clear from ClearTest, that
will do the trick.
Since 1998, ClearTest has provided drug testing products to beat any test. We are
dedicated to helping people protect both their jobs and their right to privacy.
ClearTest carries many products to help you pass, from at-home tests to synthetic
urine and detox drinks.
